Need for Speed: The Run

Need for Speed: The Run is a racing video game, the 18th title in the Need for Speed franchise, and is being developed by EA Black Box and will be published by Electronic Arts. It is scheduled for release in North America on November 15, 2011.
[edit]Gameplay

"Need For Speed: The Run" is a game that takes players on a cross-country race from San Francisco to New York. Players will be able to race across borders, weave through dense urban traffic, drive down icy mountain passes, and navigate through narrow canyons while at the same time attempting to evade the police. The Autolog social competition system will return, once again giving players the ability to track career progression and compare game statistics with other players.[3]
[edit]Development

Since the release of Undercover, Black Box has been working on another entry to the franchise, presumably continuing the action focused street-racing gameplay of Black Box's previous titles. This game has an extended development window to give the developers a chance to create a game that "could really blow the doors off the category".[4][5][6] It is confirmed that the game will feature a fictional storyline and characters, and that the Autolog system will return.[7][8][9] The game's engine will be DICE's Frostbite 2.0, the same engine that Battlefield 3 is using, thus making the game the first non-shooter game to use the engine.[10]
