Kinect Sports


Kinect Sports is a video game for the Xbox 360 that uses the Kinect peripheral. The game was developed by Rare and launched alongside the peripheral. The game allows multiple players to engage in six different motion-controlled sports, with many challenges for each experience. It also includes a Sports Party mode, allowing many players to play in a tournament or series of tournaments.[1] Kinect Sports supports downloadable content that offers additional challenges at no extra cost. It is freely available on Xbox LIVE. [2]

Bowling: This is a ten-pin bowling played from a first-person perspective. Available game modes are solo game, 2-4 player competitive match or a selection of challenge modes.
Boxing: Three-round matches for one or two players, either split-screen or over Xbox Live.
Track and field (Includes Hurdles, Sprint, Javelin, Discus Throw and Long Jump): A selection of track and field events, all taking place at the Flame Stadium. Possible to play as a pentathlon.
Table tennis: Solo or doubles matches at the Blade Centre. There are also a selection of challenge modes.
Football (Soccer): Football can be played solo against a computer-controlled team, with two players (co-operative or competitive) or in one of the skill-based challenge modes.
Beach Volleyball: Supports solo play against a computer-controlled team, or two players (co-operative or competitive) either split-screen or over Xbox Live.

The game received positive reviews, getting a rating of 8/10 from IGN and a 7.5/10 from GameSpot and a 4/5 from G4TV's X-Play.[3][4]
Video game talk show Good Game gave the game a 7 out of 10 which praised that it didn't feel like a Wii sports game and that you actually had to use your whole body to play it however stating that the soccer felt a bit brain dead. Overall they said "It's a solid sports collection to show off Kinect and it is presented well with lots of great licensed music."[5]
Kinect Sports was also awarded Best Family Game in the GAME British Academy Video Game Awards in 2011. [6]
